Physical Theatre Bursary
Application deadline: 5pm, Wednesday, 23rd October 2024
Surge is offering two bursaries for new physical theatre work suitable for live indoor performance to emerging, Scotland-based artists and companies.
The chosen artists/companies will be given a budget of £3000 towards the creation of the piece plus mentoring from Surge. The piece will be presented as a 20/30 minute work-in-progress double bill at Manipulate Festival in early February 2025.
We are particularly interested in ideas that explore innovative visual language, storytelling without words and/or animating the inanimate. We are also interested in work that incorporates technology with live performance, although this is not essential.
Requirements:
-
Present an idea for a new small-scale indoor physical theatre piece;
-
The piece needs to be suitable for performance in a theatre setting;
-
The performers and creative team need to be available for rehearsal periods between November 2024 and February 2025. Specific dates will be discussed upon offer;
-
To be available for a performance at Manipulate Festival in February 2025.
We will offer:
-
Mentorship in the creation and delivery of the work
-
£3000 budget

-

-
